Looking for a doctor can feel overwhelming to a parent with a sick child. Here are some suggestions on how to go about it and a link to a listing of the physicians and their specialties at Brenner Children's Hospital. Choosing the right doctor for your child is extremely important. When deciding on a pediatrician or a pediatric specialist consider the following:

  • Two of the most important qualities you should look for are competence and compassion.
  • Board certification, which means that a physician has done a residency in a particular specialty, is one credential to check.
  • Check the physician’s credentials with the state medical association and with the American Board of Medical Specialists.
  • Ask about the doctor’s experience with particular procedures. Does the doctor specialize in the illness or procedure facing your child? How many of these procedures does the doctor perform each year?
  • Ask friends or relatives if they know of others who have been seen by the doctor in question. Phone the parents of these children to find out what their experiences have been. Find A Doctor :: Pediatrician, Child Physician & Pediatric Specialists
