About the Kohl's Family Collaborative
The Kohl's Family Collaborative was originally established in 2007 as the WFSM-YWCA Collaborative to Strengthen Families and Neighborhoods. The creation of this space and outreach was a dream of Florence Corpening, CEO/President of the YWCA of Winston-Salem, and Dr. Shari Barkin, pediatrician at Brenner Children’s Hospital/Wake Forest School of Medicine. In 2009 we welcomed Kohl’s as a partner through their Kohl's Cares program. Since that time we have been known as the Kohl’s Family Collaborative. Despite the change in our name, our mission continues to be the same. We seek to build mutually beneficial collaborations between community and academic partners that promote the development, implementation, and translation of innovative and sustainable interventions that measurably improve child health by strengthening families and neighborhoods.
