Pediatric Cardiology
Pediatric research is an essential part of the Heart Program’s mission to provide the best possible care for our pediatric heart patients. Our experts participate in numerous clinical trials and research studies each year. Our physicians, nurses, physician assistants, scientists and technicians all collaborate on multiple research initiatives to discover better treatments for children and find ways to improve their health outcomes.
Continuing to advance treatments of heart disease in children requires new medical and scientific discoveries and incorporating them into everyday medicine.“This allows us to merge resources with other prestigious academic medical centers and find ways to improve care for children with heart problems,” said Wesley Covitz, MD, a pediatric cardiologist at Brenner.
The Brenner Heart Program is 1 of only 10 children’s hospitals in the United States that is part of the National Institutes of Health Pediatric Heart Network. This network is involved in cutting-edge research that investigates ways to better treat heart defects.
