Intensive Care Unit Critical Care
Five board-certified critical care specialists staff Brenner Children’s state-of-the-art pediatric intensive care unit, where children with all medical or surgical conditions are monitored and treated. Nine pediatric anesthesiologists supervise anesthesia for infants and children and consult for management of post-operative pain. An active sedation service provides short-acting sedatives in a child-friendly setting to calm and comfort patients who must undergo potentially painful procedures.
Patients within a 19-county area can be transported to Brenner Children’s Hospital via our critical care transport unit or AirCare, the helicopter ambulance service of Wake Forest University Bapti st Medical Center.
