Pediatric Anesthesiology

Brenner Children’s Hospital houses one of the leading pediatric anesthesia and pain management programs in North Carolina. Our specially trained pediatric anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists have trained thoroughly in both anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology to provide expert care for Brenner’s pediatric patients. Members of our anesthesiology department work closely with every medical specialty at Brenner and are involved in all types of surgical procedures and disease management.

We care for children of all ages, from premature infants to young adults, and all types of conditions, from routine surgical needs to treatments for congenital heart disease, cancer and other congenital syndromes. Additionally, we engage in cutting-edge clinical trials and research to search for new and better ways to care for pediatric patients and improve their health outcomes.

Safely giving and managing anesthetics, making our patients comfortable and minimizing their pain are the top priorities of our department. We customize the type and delivery method of anesthesia for our patients and provide careful, continuous monitoring throughout their period of anesthesia.
