Volunteer with the Collaborative

If you are interested in promoting healthy families, there are several volunteer opportunities with the Kohl's Family Collaborative.  Our programs are in both English and Spanish.  Volunteers who are bi-lingual are always needed!  We require training and background checks on all volunteers working with our children/families.

Buddy FIT is a walking program for patients in the Brenner FIT Program. College students from the community are paired up with a child in our program. The college student meets with their buddy about once a week to go walking, and will teach the child how to use a pedometer to track the number of steps they walk each day. In addition to increasing the child's physical activity, the college students are positive role models and encourage healthy habits.  College students are welcome to apply.

Day Care (0-5) services are available during the majority of our programs.  To help keep costs to a minimum we depend on Day Care volunteers to work in partnership with our hired staff.  Loving adults and mature teenagers are welcome to apply.

Active play (5-16) programs are available during the majority of our programs.  To help keep costs to a minimum we depend on Community members to work in partnership with our interns and work study students to provide active opportunities to our children while their parents attend our programs.  Active adults and mature teenagers are welcome to apply.

Fit Store serves the food insecure population in Forsyth County.  A stock person to keep our store organized and well supplied would benefit this program.

Please contact Sara Ebbers at sebbers@wfubmc.org if you are interested in becoming a volunteer.
