Developmental Stages

Noticing how your child grows and develops is one of the day-to-day joys of parenting. Watching your children go through the developmental stages of childhood is an awesome experience. In the beginning of these developmental stages there is a lot of interaction between you and your child. During these early developmental stages you have a profound influence on your child. Your child is continually experiencing new things and pays close attention to your every move.

The mid childhood developmental stages are often classified into the 5-12 year old age group. During these mid developmental stages your child begins to interact with peers and is influenced by the outside world. Your child’s classmates, friends, and teachers begin to influence them more and more.

The later developmental stages occur in the “teenage years” often between the ages of 13-18 years old. These later developmental stages have a huge impact on the characteristics and values your teen will carry on into their adult life. During this stage kids are faced with a lot of decisions that challenge their values and beliefs. Later developmental stages introduce a Pandora’s box of environmental influences and ideas.
