Child Life

Child Life 2 177pxThe Child Life Department helps infants, children, teens, and families cope with the stress of an illness, injury, trauma, disability, loss, and bereavement. Certified Child Life Specialists have experience in dealing with common developmental reactions and concerns to illness, trauma, and hospitalization. We provide evidence-based, developmentally appropriate interventions to clear any misconceptions, enhance coping through therapeutic play, medical play, coping techniques, education, and preparation for procedures to help to reduce fears, anxiety, and pain.

We also encourage developmental play so a child has opportunities to meet developmental milestones and normalize his or her environment.

Our goal is to promote a child's well-being, psychological safety, and development to his or her fullest potential.

Please join us in continuing these essential play opportunities during this unprecedented time of COVID by making a monetary donation or purchase items off of our most needed items from our Remain Calm & Play On! wish list.

If your child has a scheduled medical visit to Brenner Children's, please call to arrange for a tour from a Child Life Specialist.
