Brenner Children’s Hospital Participates in Contest For Fun Centers for Pediatric Patients

February 28, 2008

Colgate-Palmolive and Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation are encouraging people to turn on their computers to vote for one of 30 hospitals on a waiting list for Starlight’s “Fun Centers.” All 30 hospitals will receive one Fun Center and the 10 with the most votes will win a second mobile entertainment unit. Colgate-Palmolive will donate the Fun Centers as part of 84 units it will sponsor nationwide this year.

Today through March 31, residents can support Brenner Children’s Hospital in this vote by logging onto www.colgate.com/starlight. Click on featured promotion and click on the colgate website. One vote per day is allowed. The 10 hospitals with the most votes will be awarded two Fun Centers, which are equipped with the new Nintendo Wii™, DVD player and a Sharp AQUOS™ LCD TV along with interactive games.
“Every year, the waiting list continues to grow, and hospitals are asking us for new Fun Centers, which brighten the lives of hospitalized children,” said Paula Van Ness, CEO from Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation. “Caregivers have reported to us that they have reduced the need for pain medication in certain circumstances. Following the tremendous success of last year’s national online vote, Colgate-Palmolive is doubling the number of hospitals that will receive a donation through the vote.”
Administrators at Brenner Children’s Hospital are pleased to have been selected for this year’s promotion.
“Games and fun allow sick children to forget about their illness for a moment and simply be children,” said Lori J. Brown, vice-president for administration for Brenner Children’s Hospital. “We are delighted to have been selected and encourage everyone to vote on-line to help our children receive one of these fun centers.”
