Brenner Children’s Hospital to Participate in Walk Across America

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- To promote healthy lifestyles and raise money for seriously-ill children, Brenner Children’s Hospital will participate in Walk Across America, a fund-raising campaign for Together for Kids.

The walk campaign runs from Sept. 27 to Oct. 31. Brenner Children’s Hospital will conduct a “virtual” walk, which allows busy people to contribute to improving children’s healthcare without having to walk at a certain time or place.

Walkers and non-walkers can participate in Walk Across America by registering online at the Together for Kids Web site (www.togetherforkids.org). On the site, participants can go to the Brenner Children’s Walk Web page and make a miles-walked pledge or a fixed donation. Supporters can walk a route of their choice and raise money as an individual or join a team of co-workers or students and collect pledges for each mile walked.

“Together for Kids is committed to making sure the resources are available to help make America’s kids healthier and safer,” said Norman Potter, vice president of development and alumni affairs at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. “Through Walk Across America, people all over the country will be able to enjoy physical activity and at the same time raise money for hospitalized children. Funds raised will go directly to children’s hospitals in the Together for Kids network.”

Brenner Children’s Hospital is part of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and Together for Kids.
